Clovelly Court Gardens

Only two miles from Yapham, this garden is a classic example of the Victorian walled kitchen garden including magnificent lean-to greenhouses. It is well worth a visit if you are visiting Clovelly and has the added bonus that you can purchase freshly picked fruit and vegetables from the garden.

The gardens are open from April 1 – 30 September, 10.00am – 4.00pm

Owned by the Clovelly Estate, the gardens have undergone a major renovation including the greenhouses and the 12foot high surrounding walls, which have been repointed and recoped.

The unique maritime micro-climate allows the growth of tender and exotic flower borders sculptured from the landscape to enhance the character and atmosphere already present.

Apricots, melons, peaches, nectarines, a vine, citrus and a fig tree, cucumbers, peppers, chillies, aubergines and tomatoes are being grown.

Cut flowers are also grown for sale together with pot plants from the nursery.

New espalier fan and cordon trees line the walls enclosing the garden which also shelter vegetables grown organically and in rotation ensuring sweet tasting and safe produce for sale.

From the village of Clovelly a woodland walk - 'The Long Walk' leads an elegant and beautiful path to the gardens.
